Key points

  • Pennsylvania casino employment fell 3.8% to 15,252 workers in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2026.
  • That is 598 fewer jobs, and table game dealers account for 243 of them.
  • Rivers Casino Philadelphia is holding a job fair on Oct. 19 and 20 with on-the-spot offers.
  • Rivers earned $212.3 million in gross gaming revenue, down 3.3%.

What the state report shows

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has published its 2025-26 annual report, the 20th edition. It shows the state's 18 land-based casinos employed 15,252 people on June 30, 2026, a drop of 598 positions from a year earlier.

The decline came even though a new casino, Happy Valley Casino in State College, opened in April 2026. In other words, the new venue did not offset cuts elsewhere.

Dealers took the biggest hit

Table game workers made up 243 of the 598 jobs lost, around two in five. Even so, a check of current job listings shows dealer openings at several properties, including Harrah's Philadelphia, Mohegan Pennsylvania, Parx Casino Shippensburg, Hollywood Casino Morgantown, Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, The Casino at Nemacolin and Happy Valley Casino. Live dealer studios run by Evolution and Playtech are also hiring for their Pennsylvania operations.

Rivers Philadelphia is hiring

While several casinos trimmed staff, Rivers Casino Philadelphia says it has roles to fill. It will hold a job fair at its Events Center on Monday, Oct. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m., and Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon. Qualified applicants can get offers on the spot, and people with no experience are welcome.

The jobs are in food and beverage: sous chefs, cooks, food runners, bartenders, waitstaff, greeters and managers. Applicants must be at least 18. Listed benefits include health insurance, paid time off, free parking, tuition reimbursement and a 401(k). Rivers says the hiring supports new restaurant concepts and its push to be a destination for gaming, dining and hospitality.

The fair is unlikely to offset the dealer losses, since the open roles are not dealer jobs.

Rivers' numbers

Rivers Philadelphia, with about 1,500 slot machines and 100 table games, earned $212.3 million in gross gaming revenue in the fiscal year. That is 3.3% less than the $219.5 million it won the year before.
